I've been meaning to blog for weeks now, but Jax always seems to have another plan for me (like holding him constantly). But, Jon and Kale fixed our swing last night (hooray!), so I am Jax free for a few minutes.
Here are a few things that happened in the last month.
Mother's Day
Jon was going to be out of town, so he gave me my gift early. He made sure the whole house was clean, laundry done, and left me with a menu and a fridge full of what we would need so I wouldn't have to worry about anything. It was so awesome! Well, since he was going to be gone, I assumed we just wouldn't do anything on the actual day. But the kids had other plans.
The kids woke up early and "snuck" around downstairs getting things ready for breakfast. I loved laying in bed pretending like I couldn't hear them shushing each other so they wouldn't wake me up. When I finally came downstairs, I was met with a beautifully set table and 4 homemade cards with coupons attached. The few days before Mother's Day, the kids had spent hours in the basement making their special gifts while I figured out how to take care of Jax without the help of Jon. It was so sweet of them to still try and make the day special even without Jon's help.
Fairy Tale Day
Kale's class was learning about fairy tales, and they got to have a special day where they dressed up as any fairy tale character they wanted. His teacher was sure to specify that "fairy tale" people did not include any of the Avengers, or Batman or Spiderman, etc. The boys in class were slightly disappointed, but Kale came up with a good alternative.
Soccer
The girls had their final soccer games. I got to go to the last 4 games (which was pretty fantastic -- I usually can't go to any because of music classes).

Sprinklers
We've been spending a lot of time in the backyard playing in the sprinklers. Rachel, much like myself, prefers to stay mostly dry and read her book. Hallie brings her book out every time, but then is always drawn away by the joy of playing in the water. I love these guys so much.
Jax Time
And of course, we have spent countless hours watching Jax and talking with him. The kids are really amazing to help out. Rachel holds Jax and walks with him almost every evening as I make dinner. And Hallie sits and talks with him any time he is fussing on the floor. They are the reason I've been able to accomplish anything while Jon has been traveling. We love to take pictures of Jax in every situation. The kids especially love it when Jax is making funny faces, so we included these pictures because he looks so funny in all of them (funny, yet still so adorable).
