School's Out
So much has happened, but Jax isn't too fond of giving me time to blog, so hopefully I'll have enough time to briefly fill you in.
School is out!! The kids have been loving life playing together, playing with cousins, spending time at the splash pad, and reading tons of books. Every night I go down to shut off night lights (around 10:30 or so) and Rachel is still up reading! What a little sneak.
On the last day of school, Kale had his Kindergarten program/graduation. Jon was in town, so we went and watched the program, had a special treat, and then gathered up the kids and hung out together the rest of the day.
This is Rachel's teacher, Mrs. Helmbrecht. Rachel really loved her and was sad to leave her class.
Baby Blessing
Jon blessed Jax this month. The blessing was beautiful and I felt my testimony of priesthood blessings grow even more. The Hansen's, Snarr's, and Rob came to the blessing, and it was fun to spend time with them after our meeting block.
Family Hike
Rachel has made a goal to hike Kings Peak with Jon. For those who don't know, that's like a 23 mile hike -- so, we thought we should start conditioning so they will be able to attain their goal. We've decided to go on family hikes every weekend. Last week we started out with a 3 miler, and this Saturday I think we've advanced to a 5 mile hike. The kids were amazing and hiked the whole time (minus about 5 or 10 minutes where I carried Sky). We all hiked in swimsuits since there was a waterfall at the top and it was super, super hot that day.
Recitals
The kids had their recital on Tuesday. Happily, I did not have to play this time because I've been taking time off to take care of Jax. It was wonderful to just sit and enjoy the kids performances without feeling terrified knowing that it was almost my turn. My mom and dad came (since they're now home from Georgia - hooray!), and the Snarr's came too. The kids were elated that they had such a big crowd supporting them. Mom held Jax and I had the phone on facetime with Jon since he's in New York. The kids loved that Jon was "there" too.
Even though they kids were nervous, they all played beautifully and with perfect rhythm. I was so proud of all the hard work they did to prepare. They even had their pieces memorized!
In other news, Mom and Dad are home!! Jon and Ryan (and the boys) went up a few weeks ago to help in the yard, and Becky went up during the week before they got home and helped Rob to make sure everything was ready. I was so grateful to them for working so hard since I wasn't able to help with getting anything ready.
Since they've been home I have spent as much time up there as I felt I could sneak in -- Mom and Dad have a super busy week, so I was happy they let me come up at all. I have loved spending time with them, and the kids have been loving being at Grandma and Grandpa's.
I was happy that Sky didn't seem nervous to be with them. I was a little nervous as she was so small when they left, but looking at the pictures and the few skype calls must have made her feel like she knew them. So, Welcome home Mom and Dad/Grandma and Grandpa!
