Look at this sweet kid!
Kale fell down the stairs on Sunday night and was still hurting the next morning. We took him to the doctors, and after 2 hours of waiting and going from one place to the other it was declared that something was definitely wrong up around his shoulder, but they weren't quite sure what it was. So, they sent Kale home in a sling with instructions to come back again in a week for more xrays.
Kale hates wearing the sling. I think he kept it on for a total of 15 minutes. Oh well, the doctor says as long as he's holding his shoulder still it should be okay. So, that was our grand adventure yesterday. Kale's doing good and doesn't seem to have a problem unless he uses that arm, so it's a good thing he's being pretty careful.

Camping

Last Tuesday we decided to go on an overnight camping trip. While Jon finished up his work, I quickly rounded up all the camping stuff, and by 3:30 we were off to Mantua (Box Elder Campground) for a night of fun.
We found an awesome campground that was nestled into the trees, so it was super shady and not hot at all. There were lots of tree overhangs so the kids felt like they had secret caves to explore. It was fun going and not feeling worried about the kids getting hurt -- I don't know if I've mellowed out because the kids are older, or if it's because having more kids just makes me realize I don't have to worry quite as much. Regardless of the reason, the kids had a great time exploring the woods around our site.

While Jon and Rachel set up the tent, Hallie and Kale helped out with Sky (maybe a little too much help as far as Sky was concerned).

After dinner we set out for a little campground exploring. There was a little trail that connected our camping loop with the one above it, so we went for a walk along there. Hallie kept feeling nervous that we might run into bears. Granted there were signs all over that said bears had been sighted in the area, so please keep food in your cars. Unfortunately for Hallie, Rachel can read now and was just spouting off everything she saw, including the bear warnings. Not to worry -- our trip was bear free.

Jon taught the kids how to build a fire, and they did a great job. He obviously lit the match, etc, but they built up the little "log cabin" in the firepit and got everything ready to go.

Birthday Boy Kale

Kale is a big 3 year old now!
He decided to invite his sisters to boondocks for some miniature golf (which he absolutely loved), bumper boats, bowling, and of course token games. He keeps talking about when we go back next time. He can hardly wait!
